20 things about Tamara

  1. I have a serious addiction to exercise. Running. Spinning. Lifting weights. Elliptical. You name it, I’ve done it. I workout almost every day, and I usually push myself too hard.
  2. In college, I won an amateur bodybuilding contest, which kind of goes with the above fact.
  3. I have twin brothers who are two and half years younger than me, and when I was young, I was a little mother hen to them. I still refer to them as “my boys.”
  4. If I could pick any profession besides writing it would be interior design. If I had enough funds, I would redecorate my house every other year.
  5. Oreos—I have a slight addiction. I’m in recovery right now but could fall off the wagon at any second.
  6. I’m extraordinarily passionate and emotional, which is a blessing and a curse.
  7. I believe in true love and happily-ever-after, but I also believe that in order to have that, you have to find the perfect match, be aligned in your beliefs and lifestyle, and fight for your relationship all the time.
  8. Orange peonies—I adore them. I once saw a field of them, and it was so beautiful I almost cried.
  9. My soul belongs in the South. I spend seven months a year fantasizing about living somewhere other than Wisconsin. Maybe someday.
  10. July is typically my favorite month, but June and August are close seconds.
  11. My golden retriever and cat are spoiled rotten.
  12. Sweatpants and yoga pants. Can’t say enough good things about them.
  13. I would rather lose myself in a good book than watch a movie.
  14. When my son races his bike, my heart swells in a way I can’t describe. Achieving your own dreams is amazing, but watching your child achieve his? Indescribable joy.
  15. Writing fulfills me in a way that nothing else can, but editing and revising? That’s a level of hell unlike any other.
  16. Two things I do all the time but hate: cook and grocery shop.
  17. I expect way too much of myself and others.
  18. When Chris played Marc Cohn’s “True Companion” for me on our first date, I knew that I was going to marry him. Less than a year later, we danced to this song at our wedding.
  19. If my environment isn’t sparkling clean and organized, it drives me batty.
  20. The state of our world breaks my heart; I have hard time watching the news and not crying.
